This 4-day Paddle Canada certification event is designed to increase the number of qualified river SUP instructors and instructor trainers in Western Canada, to safely and effectively meet the growing demands for river paddling.

Day one would be spent going through the Paddle Canada River SUP program (skills 1 and 2), followed by three days of honing instructor/coaching skills., including group management and safety.

The possible outcomes of the event are:

River 1 SUP Instructor

River 2 SUP Instructor

River 1 SUP Instructor Trainer

River 2 SUP Instructor Trainer
Prerequisites:
For River 1 or 2 instructor:  River 1 and 2 skills  and Flatwater 2 Instructor (or equivalent experience)

For River 1 or 2 IT: River 1 and 2 skills, Flatwater 1 IT, and River 1 and 2 Instructor (or equivalent experience)

**all participants MUST have river paddling and safety skills, along with river knowledge, PRIOR  to attending this rollout event**

 This 2.5 day, Paddle Canada Certification course is designed to give you the tools and training required in order for you to safely and effectively lead your own Advanced Flatwater SUP skills courses.  This course includes an advanced skills brush-up session the afternoon before the course start date, and is a prerequisite for those looking to continue their  journey as an instructor and become certified in Touring, Surf or River SUP. These courses are usually offered in the fall and spring seasons, but can be booked any time by companies looking for staff training.

 This Paddle Canada certified course introduces the novice to paddling a SUP on easy (Class 1) rivers and surfing standing waves. The emphasis is on mastering the fundamentals of river paddling, along with a strong grounding in water safety and safe paddle board practices. There will be both dryland and on-water components to the course and skills will include throw bagging, reading the river, eddy turns, edging, front ferry, foot positions, and surfing.
Prerequisites:
Paddle Canada Advanced Flatwater Skills course (or equivalent experience)
Must supply your own cold water gear (wetsuit or drysuit and footwear) 

Course Length: 6+ hours

This Paddle Canada certified course builds on the knowledge and skills taught in the River 1 SUP course and takes gets participants working on their skills in Class II water. The emphasis remains on mastering the fundamentals of river paddling, as well as applying  water safety and safe paddle board practices in more dynamic conditions. There will be both dryland and on-water components to the course and skills will include S-turns, jet ferry, off-side forward stroke, route finding and surfing.
Prerequisites:
Paddle Canada River 1 SUP Skills course (or equivalent experience)
Must supply your own cold water gear (wetsuit or drysuit and footwear) 

Course Length: 6+ hours

 This Paddle Canada certified course builds on the skills and knowledge gained in the Intro to SUP course. Participants will be introduced to paddling in more challenging conditions and to more advanced paddle boarding skills. This course gives participants the skills and knowledge to move forward within the Paddle Canada Program and take the River, Surf and Touring skills courses.
Prerequisites:
Paddle Canada Flatwater Level 1 (basic) Skills or equivalent

Course Length: 2.5 hours
